From 2021–2023, I taught Middle School Media Arts and Elementary Computer Science at Our Lady of Las Vegas School. Building on my previous experience teaching media production, I expanded the middle school broadcast program into a daily live newscast produced and operated by eighth-grade students.

My instructional goal was not simply to teach students how to complete a broadcast, but to train them to independently manage the production process. Students learned the technical skills, production roles, communication expectations, and daily workflow required to consistently deliver a live program to the school community.

I developed and trained eighth-grade students to operate a daily live school newscast. Students were taught the complete broadcast workflow, including pre-production planning, script preparation, on-camera presentation, technical operation, live production, and program completion.

Training was deliberately structured toward student independence. Once students demonstrated competency in their assigned production roles and understood the daily workflow, responsibility for operating the newscast transitioned to the student team. The eighth graders ultimately managed the day-to-day broadcast production with minimal intervention, successfully maintaining the program as a student-run operation.

Because this work was produced and stored within a private-school environment, I no longer have access to the original broadcasts or student production files following my departure from the school.
